Giray
Giray, also spelled Girey, refers to the ruling dynasty of the Crimean Khanate, a Turkic-Mongol state on the Crimean Peninsula and surrounding steppes. The dynasty was established by Hacı I Giray and ruled Crimea from around 1441 until the Russian annexation in 1783. For much of its history, the khans and their realm operated as a vassal or ally of the Ottoman Empire, while maintaining a degree of internal autonomy in administration and foreign policy.
