Gerçekten

Gerçekten is a Turkish adverb that is commonly used in both spoken and written language to express affirmation, emphasis, or doubt. It translates roughly into English as “really,” “truly,” or “indeed,” and serves to intensify the statement that precedes or follows it. The word derives from the Persian root “gerçek,” meaning “truth,” which entered Ottoman Turkish and subsequently modern Turkish. Its usage is ubiquitous across informal conversations, news reports, social media, and literary texts.

In typical constructions, gerçekten can appear at the beginning of a sentence, in the middle for emphasis, or at the end to underline a claim.
