Gelifragmentissa is a genus of prehistoric marine reptiles belonging to the order Plesiosauria. These creatures inhabited the oceans during the Late Jurassic period, approximately 155 to 150 million years ago. The name "Gelifragmentissa" translates roughly to "frozen fragments," likely referencing the fossilized nature of its remains and the cold environment in which its fossils were discovered.

Fossil evidence indicates that Gelifragmentissa was a medium-sized plesiosaur, with an estimated length of around 4 to 6 meters. Like other plesiosaurs, it possessed a long neck, a broad torso, and four powerful flippers adapted for swimming. Its skull featured numerous sharp teeth, suggesting a diet of fish and squid, which were abundant in its marine habitat.
