Geboorteverleden

It may also include delivery method, Apgar scores, resuscitation at birth, complications during labor, and immediate neonatal care needs.

In genealogical work, geboorteverleden denotes the set of birth-related data drawn from official registers, such as birth certificates and civil registration, used to establish a person’s identity and lineage. The term itself is not a formal legal category in Dutch administration but a descriptive label employed by researchers and clinicians to summarize birth information.

Privacy and data protection considerations apply to any birth history, especially when it contains health data. Access to birth records is typically controlled and subject to legal requirements. In practice, professionals use more specific terms such as geboortedatum (date of birth), geboorteland (birth country), and geboorteakte (birth certificate).
