Gauvain, also spelled Gauvaine or Gauvin, is the French form of Gawain, a legendary knight of the Arthurian Round Table. The figure appears in medieval French romances and later adaptations as one of Arthur’s most prominent knights, associated with chivalry, courtesy, and martial prowess.
