Gatecrash

Gatecrash is a Magic: The Gathering expansion set released in February 2013, the second set in the Return to Ravnica block. It explores five two-color guilds from the city-plane of Ravnica: Selesnya Conclave (green/white), Izzet League (blue/red), Golgari Swarm (black/green), Boros Legion (red/white), and Simic Combine (blue/green).

The set continues the block’s guild-themed design by introducing new cards and reprints that reinforce each guild’s identity and strategy. Gatecrash includes cards across common, uncommon, rare, and mythic rare rarities, along with land cards such as guildgates that help mana fixing for two-color decks. The set is intended for both draft and constructed play, and is designed to be draft-friendly with guild-aligned combinations.

The block’s narrative centers on the evolving politics and power dynamics of the Ravnican guilds as they navigate conflicts on the city-plane. Gatecrash was followed by Dragon’s Maze, which concluded the Return to Ravnica storyline.
