Gasrückgewinnung

Gasrückgewinnung, also known as gas recovery or vapor recovery, refers to the process of capturing and reusing gaseous emissions. These emissions can originate from various industrial processes, storage tanks, or even natural sources. The primary goal of gasrückgewinnung is to reduce environmental pollution, such as the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere, and to conserve valuable resources.

There are several methods employed for gasrückgewinnung. Condensation is a common technique where gases are cooled to a point where they liquefy and can be collected. Adsorption uses materials like activated carbon to trap gas molecules, which can then be released and recovered under different conditions. Absorption involves dissolving the gas into a liquid medium, from which it can later be separated. Membrane separation utilizes semi-permeable membranes that allow certain gases to pass through while retaining others.

The recovered gas can have various applications. In many industrial settings, it can be reused in the same process, thereby reducing the need for virgin materials and lowering production costs. For instance, VOCs recovered from paint or chemical manufacturing can be reprocessed. In the oil and gas industry, associated gas that would otherwise be flared can be captured and used as fuel or further processed.
