Gap1

Gap1 is a gene that encodes a protein involved in amino acid transport across cell membranes. The protein, also known as Eucapsatin, is a constitutively expressed plasma membrane transporter that plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular homeostasis by facilitating the uptake of various amino acids, including neutral and acidic ones. It is a member of the solute carrier family 7 (SLC7) of transporters.

The Gap1 protein is primarily found in the plasma membrane, where it functions as a bidirectional transporter, moving amino acids both into and out of the cell.
