The Ganges-Yamuna is a prominent river system in northern India, consisting of the Ganges and its primary tributary, the Yamuna. Both rivers originate in the Himalayan mountain range; the Ganges springs from the Gangotri Glacier in Uttarakhand, while the Yamuna rises from the Yamunotri Glacier in the same state. Flowing eastward, they traverse the fertile plains of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi before merging near Delhi, forming a vital waterway that supports agriculture, industry, and urban life.
Religiously, both rivers are sacred in Hinduism, with rituals and pilgrimages centered around their banks. The
