G0 phase, also known as the quiescent or resting phase, is a state in the cell cycle where cells temporarily exit the active cycle of division and proliferation. This phase is characterized by a reversible withdrawal from the cell cycle, with cells typically maintaining metabolic activity but not progressing through DNA replication or mitosis.
