Féknyerget

Féknyerget is a Hungarian term that translates to "brake caliper" in English. It refers to a component of a disc brake system responsible for slowing down or stopping a vehicle. The brake caliper houses the brake pads and the piston(s) that press these pads against the brake rotor. When the driver applies the brakes, hydraulic fluid is forced into the caliper, pushing the piston(s) outward. This action forces the brake pads to clamp onto the spinning rotor, creating friction and thus reducing the vehicle's speed.

There are several types of brake calipers, including fixed calipers and floating calipers. Fixed calipers have pistons on both sides of the rotor, meaning the caliper body remains stationary while the pistons move. Floating calipers, on the other hand, have pistons on only one side; when activated, the caliper body slides inward, bringing the stationary pad into contact with the rotor, which then pulls the other pad into contact. The materials used in brake caliper construction, such as cast iron or aluminum, can affect their weight and heat dissipation properties. Proper maintenance of the féknyerget is crucial for ensuring effective braking performance and vehicle safety.
