Fájdalomfokozódás

Fájdalomfokozódás, also known as hyperalgesia, is an increased sensitivity to painful stimuli. It is a condition where a normally painful stimulus causes a significantly stronger or more prolonged pain response. This can manifest in two main ways: either a person experiences pain from stimuli that are not normally painful (allodynia), or normally painful stimuli cause an exaggerated pain sensation (exaggerated hyperalgesia).

The underlying mechanisms of hyperalgesia are complex and can involve changes in the peripheral nervous system, the central nervous system, or both. Peripheral sensitization occurs when nerve endings in the affected area become more sensitive, often due to inflammation or injury. Central sensitization involves changes in how the spinal cord and brain process pain signals, leading to a heightened response.

Hyperalgesia can be associated with a variety of conditions, including chronic pain disorders like fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain (pain caused by nerve damage), and inflammatory conditions. It can also be a temporary phenomenon following acute injury or surgery. Identifying and treating the underlying cause of hyperalgesia is crucial for effective management. Treatment approaches may include pain medications, physical therapy, and psychological interventions aimed at managing the pain experience. Understanding hyperalgesia is important for differentiating it from other types of pain and for developing targeted treatment strategies.
