Fusio
Fusio is a village in the Swiss canton of Ticino. It is a frazione of the municipality of Lavizzara, situated in the Bavona valley in the northern part of Ticino. The settlement lies at roughly 900–1,100 meters above sea level, and consists of a cluster of traditional stone houses built on a steep hillside above a rocky gorge. The architecture and remote setting make Fusio part of a landscape that is often cited for Alpine rural heritage. Historically, residents practiced alpine pasture farming and craftwork, with forestry playing a role in the local economy. In the 19th and 20th centuries many residents emigrated or moved to more accessible valleys, and today the population is small; several houses are used as holiday homes.
