Fuseerimine

Fuseerimine is the process of joining two or more objects, substances, or systems into a single entity by merging, fusing, or integrating their components. The term is used in several disciplines to describe different mechanisms that lead to a unified whole.

In physics, nuclear fusion refers to light nuclei combining to form heavier nuclei, releasing large amounts of energy. Achieving controlled fusion requires extreme temperatures and pressures and is the subject of research in facilities such as tokamaks and inertial confinement experiments. Practical fusion promises a potential source of abundant energy, but it remains technically challenging and not yet commercially available.

In materials science and engineering, fuseerimine describes joining by fusing materials at high temperature, or by fusion welding. The base materials are heated to their melting points and form a joint as they coalesce. Techniques include arc welding, laser welding, and laser-assisted processes, as well as soldering or brazing where a filler material fuses with the surfaces.

In biology, cell fusion is a natural or induced process where two or more cells merge to form a single cell with combined membranes and cytoplasm. It occurs in development, muscle formation, placenta formation, and viral infections that induce syncytia.

In information science and sensor technology, fuseerimine can refer to data fusion, the integration of information from multiple sources to improve accuracy, robustness, or comprehensiveness of results.
