Fruchtteile

Fruchtteile refers to the various distinct parts that make up a fruit. These parts are derived from the ovary and sometimes other floral structures of a flowering plant, and they play crucial roles in seed protection and dispersal. The primary component of a fruit is the pericarp, which develops from the ovary wall. The pericarp itself is typically differentiated into three layers: the exocarp, which is the outermost skin or peel; the mesocarp, the fleshy or fibrous middle layer; and the endocarp, the innermost layer that often encloses the seed(s).

In some fruits, additional floral parts contribute to the overall structure. For instance, the receptacle can form part of the edible portion of accessory fruits like apples or strawberries.
