Fraknís

Fraknís is a coastal municipality and administrative region on the southern coast of the fictional continent of Elaria. The territory encompasses the town of Fraknís and a surrounding rural district characterized by low hills, a sheltered bay, and mixed farmland. The region's capital and largest settlement share the same name. The official language is Fraknísian, with English and Varin spoken as minority languages.

Fraknís covers about 612 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 12,000. The coast features a natural harbor used by local fisheries, while inland areas are used for dairy farming and timber. The climate is temperate with maritime influences and moderate rainfall.

The area has medieval origins, with fortifications documented near the harbor in the 13th century. It developed as a fishing and farming community through the early modern period. A regional council was established in the 19th century, and Fraknís gained autonomous status within the federation in the mid-20th century. Local institutions administer education, healthcare, and infrastructure through a unified council.

The economy is dominated by small-scale fishing, dairy production, and timber processing, supplemented by seasonal tourism focused on the coast and historic ships. Cultural life centers on maritime heritage, with annual harbor festivals, traditional crafts, and local cuisine. Education is provided by one secondary school and several primary schools; healthcare is served by a regional clinic.

Notable features include the Fraknís Harbor, the Old Fort ruins, and a surviving 19th-century shipbuilding workshop that operates as a museum.
