Fotonmultiplikation

Fotonmultiplikation refers to an experimental technique in quantum optics used to study the behavior of light at the single photon level. The term is German for "photon multiplication," although it does not imply an actual increase in the number of incident photons.

In fotonmultiplikation, a weak coherent light beam is incident on aseries of beam splitters, which successively divide the beam into its complementary components. Each component is then analyzed with respect to its intensity and phase difference relative to the original beam. By combining the analyses of these components, it becomes possible to reconstruct a high-fidelity image of the original input beam.

Fotonmultiplikation has been used in a variety of applications including quantum information processing and optics, as well as in the study of quantum noise and its impact on optical systems. One of its primary benefits is its ability to accurately analyze the quantum state of a light beam with great precision. This is a challenging task with traditional methods, as the intensity and phase fluctuations associated with a weak beam can make it difficult to accurately measure its properties.

Research in fotonmultiplikation has led to a better understanding of the underlying physics governing optical systems, and has contributed to the development of new methods for measuring the quantum state of light and its constituent photons.
