Foszforoxidvegyület

Foszforoxidvegyület, more commonly known in English as phosphorus oxide or phosphorus oxide compound, refers to a broad category of chemical substances formed by the union of phosphorus and oxygen atoms. These compounds exhibit a wide range of chemical structures and properties, making them relevant in various industrial and scientific applications.

The most well-known phosphorus oxides are phosphorus pentoxide (P4O10 or P2O5) and phosphorus trioxide (P4O6 or P2O3). Phosphorus pentoxide is a highly reactive white solid that acts as a powerful dehydrating agent. It readily absorbs water from the atmosphere and is used in the synthesis of phosphoric acid, as a drying agent, and in the production of certain chemicals. Phosphorus trioxide is also a white crystalline solid but is less stable and more reactive than its pentoxide counterpart. It readily reacts with water to form phosphorous acid.
