Fosfonaattiryhmän

Fosfonaattiryhmä is the Finnish term for the phosphonate group. It refers to a functional group with the general formula R-PO(OH)2, where R is an organic substituent. More specifically, it is an organophosphorus compound containing a C-P bond. The phosphonate group is characterized by a phosphorus atom double-bonded to one oxygen atom, single-bonded to two hydroxyl (OH) groups, and single-bonded to a carbon atom of an organic moiety. This structure distinguishes it from phosphates, which have a P-O-C linkage, and phosphinates, which have two organic groups attached to the phosphorus.
