Formálhatósági refers to the concept of formability in manufacturing and materials science. It describes the ease with which a material can be shaped or deformed without fracturing or undergoing undesirable changes in its properties. This property is crucial in processes such as metal forming, plastic molding, and glass blowing.

High formability indicates that a material can undergo significant plastic deformation before failure. Factors influencing formability include the material's ductility, strain hardening exponent, and yield strength. Different forming processes, like deep drawing, stamping, and bending, impose specific types of stress and strain on the material, and its ability to withstand these conditions determines its formability in that particular application.

Assessing formability often involves testing, such as the Erichsen test for sheet metals, which measures the depth a punch can penetrate a sheet before a crack appears. Understanding and controlling formability is essential for designing efficient manufacturing processes, minimizing material waste, and ensuring the quality and performance of the final product. Materials with poor formability may require specialized techniques, such as heating, lubrication, or intermediate annealing steps, to achieve the desired shape.
