Formulatie

Formulatie, the Dutch term for formulation, refers to the process of creating a precise specification, plan, or product by combining components, terms, or language in a structured way. The concept is used across several disciplines, and its exact meaning depends on context.

In chemistry and pharmaceuticals, a formulatie describes the composition and preparation of a product, such as a medication or cosmetic. A formulation lists the active ingredient, inactive ingredients (excipients), their quantities, and the methods of manufacture, storage, and delivery. The goal is to achieve stability, efficacy, safety, and user acceptability, while enabling scalable production and consistent dosing or release characteristics.

In linguistics and communication, formulatie refers to the stage in speech production or writing where an intended meaning is converted into a linguistic form. This includes selecting words, arranging them according to grammar, and encoding information into phonology and morphology. Formulation connects the mental plan (conceptualization) to articulation, and it is shaped by context, audience, and cognitive constraints.
