Fokozatokat

Fokozatokat, also known as "degrees" in English, are a system of academic qualifications used in Hungary and other countries influenced by Hungarian education. The term "fokozat" translates to "degree" or "level" in English. The system is structured hierarchically, with each level representing a higher degree of academic achievement and specialization.

The Hungarian education system includes several fokozatokat, each with its own set of requirements and duration. The primary fokozat is the "érettségi," which is the secondary school leaving examination. Following this, students can pursue higher education at universities, where they can obtain various fokozatokat.

The most common fokozat in higher education is the "Bachelor's degree" (BSc), which typically takes four years to complete. After obtaining a Bachelor's degree, students can continue their studies to earn a "Master's degree" (MSc), which usually takes an additional two years. Some universities also offer "Doctoral degrees" (PhD), which can take several years to complete and involve original research.
