Fogyóelektródák

Fogyóelektródák refer to electrodes that are consumed during an electrochemical process, such as welding or electrolysis. In welding, the consumable electrode melts and provides filler material to the joint. This is common in arc welding processes like shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) where a coated electrode is used, or gas metal arc welding (GMAW) where a bare wire electrode is fed continuously. The composition of the consumable electrode is carefully chosen to match or enhance the properties of the base metals being joined.

In electrolysis, consumable anodes are used in some processes. For instance, in the electrolytic production of certain metals, an anode made of the same metal as the one being purified can be used. As the process continues, the anode dissolves into the electrolyte, replenishing the ions that are deposited at the cathode. This contrasts with inert electrodes, which remain largely unchanged during the electrochemical reaction. The rate of consumption of these electrodes is a critical factor in process efficiency and cost.
