Fluidimekaniikkana

Fluidimekaniikkana is the Finnish term for fluid mechanics. Fluid mechanics is a branch of physics that studies the behavior of fluids (liquids and gases) in motion and at rest. It is a broad field with numerous applications in science and engineering.

The study of fluid mechanics is divided into several sub-disciplines. Fluid statics, or hydrostatics, deals with fluids at rest. It examines concepts such as pressure, buoyancy, and surface tension. Fluid dynamics, on the other hand, focuses on fluids in motion. This area includes the study of flow patterns, viscosity, turbulence, and forces exerted by fluids. Aerodynamics, a specific branch of fluid dynamics, deals with the motion of gases, particularly air.

Key principles in fluid mechanics include conservation of mass, conservation of momentum (often expressed by Navier-Stokes equations), and conservation of energy. These principles are used to analyze and predict fluid behavior in various scenarios. For instance, fluid mechanics is crucial for designing aircraft wings, understanding blood flow in the circulatory system, predicting weather patterns, and managing water resources. The concepts of viscosity, density, pressure, and velocity are fundamental to understanding fluid behavior. Experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are common tools used to study and simulate fluid flows.
