Flagey

Flagey is a cultural venue located in Ixelles, a municipality of Brussels, Belgium. The building, originally constructed as a radio broadcasting house, is a significant example of Art Deco architecture. It was designed by Belgian architect Joseph Diongre and opened in 1938. The iconic round towers are a distinctive feature of the structure.

After its time as a radio center, the building fell into disuse for a period. In the late 1990s, a project was initiated to revitalize and repurpose the building into a multidisciplinary arts center. Flagey officially reopened in 2002, offering a diverse program of concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, and other cultural events.

The venue hosts several resident ensembles and organizations, including the Brussels Philharmonic and the National Orchestra of Belgium. Its concert halls are known for their excellent acoustics. Flagey also plays a role in various international festivals held in Brussels. The building's central location and striking appearance make it a well-recognized landmark in the city.
