Fintona

Fintona is a rural town located in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Situated in the heart of County Tyrone, it lies approximately 15 miles southwest of Omagh, the county town. The town is part of the Omagh District Council.

Historically, Fintona was an important market town. Its development was significantly influenced by the construction of the Fintona tramway, which operated between 1883 and 1957. This tramway was one of the last narrow-gauge railways in the British Isles to cease operations. The railway played a crucial role in connecting Fintona to the wider rail network and facilitating the transport of goods and passengers.

The economy of Fintona has traditionally been based on agriculture.
