Finanssituotteita, literally Americanized Finnish for "financial products", refers to the range of instruments and services offered by banks, securities firms, insurance companies, pension funds, and other financial institutions to meet the various needs of individuals, businesses, and governments. These products can be divided into several broad categories. Depository products, such as savings accounts, fixed‑term deposits, and certificates of deposit, enable individuals and enterprises to store money, earn interest, and access liquidity with minimal risk. Credit products – loans, mortgages, credit cards, and overdrafts – provide borrowing capacity in exchange for a set of contractual terms, including interest rates, repayment schedules, and collateral requirements. Investment vehicles, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange‑traded funds, and structured products, allow capital to be allocated across markets, offering the possibility of capital appreciation, income generation, and diversification. Insurance products, such as life, health, property, and liability coverage, manage uncertainty by transferring risk to insurers in return for premiums. Pension and retirement products, including defined‑benefit plans, defined‑contribution plans, and annuities, help individuals accumulate wealth over their working life and secure income during retirement. Finally, payment and treasury services—card processing, electronic funds transfers, treasury management, and foreign exchange—facilitate the movement of money across borders and time. Regulators, such as Finland’s Financial Supervisory Authority, oversee these products to protect consumers, maintain market stability, and ensure compliance with anti‑money‑laundering and data‑privacy laws.
