Filmation was an American animation studio founded by Lou Scheimer and Hal Sutherland in 1963. Originally known as "The Filmation Associates," the company became one of the most prolific producers of animated television shows and films during the 1970s and 1980s. Filmation was known for its distinctive animation style, often characterized by limited animation techniques, rotoscoping, and simplified character designs.
