Feuchtigkeitsdampf refers to water in its gaseous state. It is a colorless, odorless, and transparent component of the atmosphere. Water molecules transition from liquid to gas through evaporation, a process driven by heat energy. This transition is a fundamental part of the Earth's water cycle. As warm, moist air rises, it cools, causing the water vapor to condense into tiny liquid water droplets or ice crystals, forming clouds. Precipitation, such as rain or snow, occurs when these droplets or crystals become too heavy to remain suspended in the atmosphere. The concentration of feuchtigkeitsdampf in the air is known as humidity. High humidity indicates a large amount of water vapor present, while low humidity means there is less.
