Femtoállomásnak

Femtoállomásnak, often referred to as a femtocell, is a small, low-power cellular base station designed for use in a home or small business environment. These devices connect to the service provider's network via broadband internet and provide a cellular signal within a limited range, typically tens of meters. The primary purpose of a femtocell is to improve indoor mobile coverage, which can often be weak or nonexistent in buildings due to construction materials or distance from macrocell towers.

Femtocells operate on existing cellular network technologies, such as 3G, 4G LTE, and increasingly 5G. They allow mobile devices within their coverage area to connect to the network as if they were outdoors, providing better call quality, data speeds, and battery life as the device doesn't have to work as hard to find a signal. Users typically plug the femtocell into their existing internet router.

The deployment of femtocells can benefit both end-users and mobile network operators. For users, it means enhanced mobile service indoors. For operators, it offloads traffic from the macrocell network, particularly in dense urban areas, and can be a cost-effective way to extend coverage without building new macro sites. Security is managed through authentication processes, ensuring that only authorized users can connect to a particular femtocell, often linked to the subscriber's account.
