Feedforwardreglering

Feedforwardreglering, or feedforward control, is a control system strategy that anticipates disturbances and takes corrective action before they affect the system's output. Unlike feedback control, which reacts to deviations from a desired setpoint after they occur, feedforward control uses a model of the system and its expected disturbances to predict their impact. By measuring or estimating the disturbance, the controller can proactively adjust its output to counteract the disturbance's effect.

The primary advantage of feedforward control is its ability to improve system performance by minimizing or even eliminating errors caused by known disturbances. This is particularly useful in processes where delays in feedback loops would lead to significant overshoot or undershoot. For example, in temperature control, if a sudden influx of cold air is detected, a feedforward controller would immediately increase the heating power to prevent the temperature from dropping.

Feedforward control is often used in conjunction with feedback control to create a more robust and effective control system. The feedback controller handles any unmeasured disturbances or inaccuracies in the feedforward model, ensuring that the system's output eventually reaches and stays at the desired setpoint. The combined approach leverages the predictive power of feedforward and the corrective capabilities of feedback for optimal control.
