Fargebærere

Fargebærere, or color carriers, refer to a group of proteins and molecules responsible for transporting and distributing pigments, particularly in biological systems. These components play a crucial role in various physiological and biochemical processes, including photosynthesis, respiration, and signal transduction.

In plants, fargebærere are most prominently associated with chlorophyll, the green pigment essential for capturing light energy during photosynthesis. Chlorophyll molecules are embedded in the thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts and are bound to proteins known as light-harvesting complexes. These complexes facilitate the efficient transfer of absorbed light energy to the reaction centers where photosynthesis occurs.
