Familiarizáis

Familiarizáis is the second person plural present indicative form of the Spanish verb familiarizar, used with the vosotros subject form. It means “you all familiarize” or, when used reflexively with os, “you all become familiar (with).” In standard Spanish, this form is characteristic of Spain and other regions that use the voseo/ vosotros paradigm. In many Latin American countries, the corresponding present indicative form is familiarizan (with ustedes), not familiarizáis.

Morphology and related forms: familiarizar is a regular -zar verb. The stem is familiariz-, to which the second-person plural ending -áis is added in the present indicative. The verb also appears in reflexive form as familiarizarse, whose second-person plural present tense is os familiarizáis (in contexts where vosotros is used). The noun familiarización refers to the process of becoming familiar with something.

Usage notes: familiarizáis requires a direct object or a prepositional phrase to complete meaning when used transitively (familiarizáis a los nuevos empleados con las políticas). When the sense is reflexive, it is common to say os familiarizáis con algo (you all make yourselves familiar with something). The form is typical in educational, corporate, and instructional registers.
