A Fahrschein is the ticket or travel pass that entitles its holder to use public transportation, such as buses, trams, trains and other services. The term is widely used in German-speaking countries and denotes the proof of entitlement to travel. In Germany and Austria Fahrschein is the standard word; in some Swiss regions Fahrkarte or Billette is more common, but Fahrschein is generally understood.
