Faasimuutosmodulaatio

Faasimuutosmodulaatio, often abbreviated as PSK, is a digital modulation technique that conveys data by changing the phase of a reference signal. In PSK, the information is encoded in the phase of the carrier wave. Different phase shifts correspond to different digital symbols. For example, in binary PSK (BPSK), two phases are used to represent a binary 0 and a binary 1. A phase shift of 0 radians might represent a 0, and a phase shift of pi radians might represent a 1. More complex PSK schemes, such as quadrature PSK (QPSK), use more phase states to transmit multiple bits per symbol, increasing the data rate. QPSK uses four phase shifts, allowing two bits to be transmitted simultaneously. The receiver demodulates the signal by detecting these phase shifts. The choice of PSK scheme depends on factors like the required data rate and the noise level of the communication channel. PSK is widely used in various communication systems, including Wi-Fi, satellite communications, and mobile telephony, due to its robustness against noise and its efficient use of bandwidth. The main challenge in PSK is accurate phase synchronization between the transmitter and receiver, which is crucial for reliable data recovery.
