Exotermilisi

Exotermilisi is a term used in some languages to describe processes or reactions that release heat to the surroundings. In many scientific contexts, the standard term is exothermic, and exotermilisi is encountered as a translation or regional usage of that concept. The core idea is that the system loses internal energy to the environment as heat during the change.

In thermodynamics, exothermic processes have a negative change in enthalpy (ΔH < 0). Heat is liberated rather than absorbed, which often leads to a rise in the temperature of the surroundings. The heat may be emitted as visible warmth, and in some cases as light or sound. By contrast, endothermic processes absorb heat from the surroundings and have ΔH > 0.

Common examples include combustion (such as burning a hydrocarbon), neutralization reactions between acids and bases, and many oxidation-reduction reactions. In biology, metabolic pathways such as cellular respiration release heat as a byproduct of energy production. Exothermic behavior is also important in materials science, where exothermic curing of polymers or cementitious reactions can influence processing and safety.

Measurement of exothermic reactions often uses calorimetry to quantify heat flow. Bomb calorimeters are used for combustion, while coffee-cup calorimeters or differential scanning calorimetry devices may be employed for other exothermic processes. Safety considerations are important, as rapid heat release can cause burns, pressure buildup, or thermal runaway if not controlled.
