Etäisyysfunktion

etäisyysfunktion is a Finnish term that translates to "distance function" in English. It is a mathematical concept used to quantify the distance between two points in a given space. This space can be a simple Euclidean space, like a plane or three-dimensional space, or it can be a more abstract space, such as a metric space. The defining characteristic of an etäisyysfunktion is that it assigns a non-negative real number to any pair of points, representing the separation between them.

A valid etäisyysfunktion must satisfy several properties. Firstly, the distance between a point and itself must always be zero. Secondly, the distance between two distinct points must be positive. Thirdly, the distance from point A to point B must be the same as the distance from point B to point A; this is known as symmetry.
