It encompasses core platform developments, client implementations, and a wide range of applications and research that interact with Ethereum, as well as related technologies and standards used on or compatible with the network.

At the core are the Ethereum protocol and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which runs smart contracts written in languages such as Solidity or Vyper.
