Etendusele

Etendusele is the Estonian allative case form of the noun etendus, meaning a performance or show. It functions to indicate direction toward or attendance at a performance and is commonly used with verbs of movement and with constructions describing attending events. In everyday language, etendusele answers questions of “to where?” and translates roughly as “to the show” or “to the performance.”

Etymology and grammar: The form etendusele derives from etendus (performance) with the allative suffix -le. The allative case marks direction toward a place or event and is one of several locational cases in Estonian. The word is declined in the standard way for Estonian nouns, with etendus becoming etendusele in the allative.

Usage: Etendusele appears in sentences involving going to a show, booking or attending an event, and similar contexts. Examples include: Me läksime etendusele koos sõpradega. (We went to the performance with friends.) Ostsin piletid etendusele. (I bought tickets to the performance.) Ta ei jõudnud etendusele. (He didn’t make it to the performance.)
