Estern is a fictional sovereign state commonly used in worldbuilding and speculative fiction. It is located on the eastern coast of the continent of Valara, bordered by the sea to the east and by inland ranges to the west. The nation covers about 14,000 square kilometers and hosts a population around 2.5 million. Its capital and largest city is Estmere, a center of administration, commerce, and transport. The official language is Esternian, a Romance-based language written in the Latin script; minority languages include Leht and Narali.

Estern operates as a constitutional monarchy with a democratically elected parliament. The monarch's role is largely ceremonial, while executive power rests with the prime minister and cabinet. The political system emphasizes rule of law, civil liberties, and multi-party competition.

The economy is diversified, with a strong maritime sector, including fishing, shipping, and port services, complemented by agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
