Ervinga

Ervinga is a coastal city located in the western region of a fictional country, known for its sheltered harbor and nearby hills. The city covers about 75 square kilometers and has a population around 72,000 as of 2023. Official language is Ervian; minority languages include Varish and Merin.

The name Ervinga derives from the name of early settlers, Erv, with the suffix -inga indicating a place associated with. Records from the 13th century mention Ervinga as a small port that served nearby villages.

Founded as a fishing village in the 12th century, Ervinga developed into a regional market town by the 14th century. Its maritime role expanded during the trade era, and the town faced recovery after storms in the 16th century and later embraced industrialization in the 19th.

Ervinga operates a mayor-council government. It is the administrative center of the surrounding municipality within the nation; the city council is elected every four years.

The economy is anchored by fishing, shipping-related services, light manufacturing, and tourism. The port handles freight and container traffic, while the adjacent shipyard and logistics facilities contribute to local employment.
