Epiphones
Epiphone is a musical instrument brand that is a subsidiary of the American manufacturer Gibson. The company was founded in 1894 in Greece by Anastasios Stathopoulos, who originally produced lyres and other stringed instruments. The company moved to the United States in 1903 and began producing mandolins, banjos, and eventually guitars. Epiphone became a significant competitor to Gibson in the guitar market during the 1930s. Following financial difficulties, Epiphone was acquired by Gibson in 1957.
Under Gibson's ownership, Epiphone became known as a more affordable alternative to Gibson's American-made instruments. Epiphone
