Epevezeték refers to the system of ducts that transport bile from the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine. This intricate network plays a crucial role in digestion. The primary components of the epevezeték include the hepatic ducts, which collect bile from the liver, the cystic duct, which connects the gallbladder to the common hepatic duct, and the common bile duct, which carries bile to the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine.

Bile, a fluid produced by the liver, aids in the breakdown and absorption of fats in the digestive system. It also helps in the elimination of waste products from the body. The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile, releasing it into the epevezeték when fatty foods are consumed. The flow of bile is regulated by a muscular valve called the sphincter of Oddi, which opens to allow bile to enter the duodenum.

Disruptions to the epevezeték can lead to various health issues, such as gallstones, which are hardened deposits that can block the ducts. Inflammation of these ducts, known as cholangitis, is another serious condition that can arise. Problems within the epevezeték can result in symptoms like abdominal pain, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), and digestive disturbances.
