Eorpwald
Eorpwald was a medieval English king who ruled from 796 until his death in 806. He was the son of King Offa of Mercia and succeeded his brother Ecgfrith. Eorpwald's reign was marked by a series of conflicts with the Vikings, who were increasingly raiding Mercian territory. His efforts to defend his kingdom were largely unsuccessful, and he was eventually forced to pay tribute to the Vikings to secure peace.
