Ensiökäämiin

Ensiökäämiin is a Finnish term that translates to "primary coil" in English. It refers to the coil of wire in an electrical transformer that receives the electrical energy from the power source. This coil is typically connected to the alternating current (AC) supply. When AC flows through the primary coil, it generates a fluctuating magnetic field in the transformer's core.

The number of turns in the primary coil, along with the voltage applied to it, determines the strength and nature of this magnetic field. This magnetic field is crucial for the operation of the transformer, as it induces a voltage in the secondary coil. The ratio of the number of turns in the primary coil to the number of turns in the secondary coil dictates whether the transformer will step up or step down the voltage. If the primary coil has fewer turns than the secondary coil, the voltage is stepped up; if it has more turns, the voltage is stepped down. The physical construction and material of the primary coil are designed to efficiently conduct electricity and generate the required magnetic field with minimal energy loss.
