Energiamärgistus

Energiamärgistus, or energy labeling, is a system used in the European Union to inform consumers about the energy efficiency of various products, primarily household appliances. The label provides a clear and standardized way to compare the energy consumption of different models, helping consumers make more informed purchasing decisions.

The Energiamärgistus label typically features a scale from A to G, where A represents the most energy-efficient appliance and G the least. In some cases, the scale might be extended with plus signs (e.g., A+++) to further differentiate highly efficient products. Alongside the efficiency class, the label also displays key performance indicators relevant to the specific product, such as annual energy consumption, water consumption, noise level, and capacity.

The primary goal of Energiamärgistus is to promote the use of energy-efficient products, thereby reducing overall energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. By highlighting energy efficiency, manufacturers are incentivized to develop and produce more sustainable appliances. Consumers benefit from lower electricity bills and a reduced environmental footprint. The system applies to a wide range of products, including refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, and lighting.
