Emme
Emme is a river in Switzerland, a right-bank tributary of the Aare, in the canton of Bern. It rises in the Emmental region of the Swiss plateau and flows generally northwest through rural communities before joining the Aare. The river's basin lies largely in an agricultural region; the Emmental valley is known for dairy farming and traditional cheese. The river historically powered mills and shaped settlement patterns; contemporary management includes flood protection, water quality programs, and ecological restoration, including bank stabilization and fish passage improvements. Emme is also used as a given name in some cultures, independent from the river.
