Elöverföring, a Swedish term, translates to electricity transmission or power transmission in English. It refers to the process of transporting electrical energy from a power generation site to substations, and from there to consumers. This involves a network of high-voltage transmission lines, also known as power lines, which are crucial for efficiently moving large amounts of electricity over long distances.

The electricity generated at power plants, often at lower voltages, is first stepped up to very high voltages using transformers. This high voltage reduces the current, which in turn minimizes energy loss due to resistance in the transmission lines. These high-voltage lines are typically supported by large pylons or towers.

Once the electricity reaches a substation near a populated area, its voltage is reduced through step-down transformers. This lower voltage is then distributed through a network of lower-voltage lines to homes, businesses, and industries. The entire system is a complex and interconnected grid designed to ensure a stable and reliable supply of electricity. Maintenance and upgrades to this infrastructure are ongoing to meet demand and improve efficiency.
