Elektronvoltteina

Elektronvoltteina is the Finnish term for electronvolts, a unit of energy. An electronvolt (eV) is a unit of energy commonly used in atomic, nuclear, and particle physics. It is defined as the amount of kinetic energy gained by a single electron when it is accelerated through an electric potential difference of one volt. This means that if an electron moves from a point of lower electric potential to a point of higher electric potential, and the potential difference is one volt, it will gain one electronvolt of energy.

The electronvolt is not an SI base unit, but it is accepted for use with the SI system. Its value is approximately 1.602 x 10^-19 joules. Due to its small magnitude, electronvolts are often expressed with prefixes, such as kiloelectronvolts (keV), megaelectronvolts (MeV), and gigaelectronvolts (GeV), for convenience in describing energies encountered in various physics experiments and phenomena. For instance, the energy of X-rays might be measured in keV, while the energy of particles in accelerators is often in GeV or teraelectronvolts (TeV). The electronvolt provides a convenient scale for discussing the energies of subatomic particles and the interactions between them.
