Elektronleadásával refers to the process of losing electrons, a fundamental concept in chemistry and physics. It is the opposite of electron gain, where an atom or molecule accepts electrons. When an atom or ion loses one or more electrons, it becomes positively charged, forming a cation. This loss of electrons is often accompanied by a release of energy.

In chemical reactions, electron loss is central to oxidation processes. An oxidizing agent is a substance that causes another substance to lose electrons, meaning the oxidizing agent itself gains electrons. Conversely, a reducing agent is a substance that causes another substance to gain electrons, and in doing so, the reducing agent loses electrons. The transfer of electrons is a key mechanism for forming chemical bonds, particularly in ionic compounds where one atom strongly attracts electrons and another readily donates them.
